8 days/7 nights

Guayaquil, Ecuador or Quito, Ecuador

Day 1: Arrival / San Cristobal
Turtle on the Galapagos Family Vacation
Meals Included:  L

Upon arrival at San Cristobal Airport from Quito or Guayaquil, you will be met by your local expert guide who will take you to the beautiful beach of "Loberia". Here you can practice your snorkeling and hike to "Las Negrita's Cliff.

Next we stop at the local interpretation center to learn about the unique wildlife, geology and natural history of the Galapagos.

Our minds fresh with knowledge, we'll make our way to Frigate Hill where our relaxing walk reveals fauna, wildlife, and scenic views of the beach and sea cliffs below.

On the way back stop for a refreshing snorkel at Carola beach and say hello to the sea turtles and sea lions.

Return to the hotel for dinner and finish up your first day with a leisurely walk down the boardwalk

Day 2: San Cristobal

Today we visit El Junco, the only freshwater lake in the Galapagos, hike through the home of frigate birds, common gallinules, white-cheeked pintail ducks and more.

After a short drive we'll stop at Galapaguera de Cerro Colorado, a wonderful breeding center where giant tortoises roam free, and learn about conservation efforts to preserve the species.

We'll continue to Hacienda Tranquila for lunch where we can walk through native fruit trails of oranges, passion fruit, guavas, pomarrosa, ovos and other exotic varieties.

You can also help feed the farm animals and learn about coffee harvesting methods while drinking award winning coffee.

We'll spend the entire afternoon there and catch a beautiful sunset behind Kicker Rock

Day 3: Tintoreras

This morning we'll take a short boat ride to Tintoreras where our day will be spent snorkeling and hiking.

The calm waters are home to sea lions, sea turtles, marine iguanas, rays, and penguins.

After exploring the island by foot and boat we'll grab our snorkel gear for a chance to see an abundant amount of marine life in the bay.

We'll break for lunch at a local restaurant in town and then head off on one of the most scenic walks in the Galapagos. We'll hike along immaculate beaches, into an alluring poison apple forest and a lava tube cave, and through brooding mangroves and brackish lagoons. We'll see lots of giant tortoises, flamingos, and other birds.

Day 4: Isabela

This morning we head up to the highlands and hike up to the rim of the Sierra Negra Volcano.

One of the youngest lava fields in the world, surrounded by Galapagos hawk and endemic plants, the effort is worth it.

Then we visit a local ranch to have lunch and learn about the life of first Isabela settlers.

We'll explore organic agricultural practices, gentle animal farming, coffee plantations, sugar cane production and some amazing vegetation and birdwatching.

This is a fantastic opportunity to meet the locals and share in their daily lives and traditions

Day 5: Isabela

Today we walk a short trail to the Giant Tortoise Center, completed in 1994 and home to the tortoise populations of southern Isabela. While there, we'll get a chance to see hatchlings as well as older tortoises.

Along the way to the Tortoise Center we pass through a manzillo forest surrounded by wetlands, home to the famous giant pink flamingos, a delightful and unexpected sight for the Galapagos.

After a delicious lunch made with local and organic products, we head to one of the favorite local hangouts, Concha y Perla, for a swim and snorkel for the rest of the afternoon before returning to the hotel

Day 6: Santa Cruz

Early in the morning boat transfer to Santa Cruz, once we arrive we will visit one of the most famous beaches of Galapagos Tortuga Bay, we walk on a beautiful trail for around and hour to get to this pristine white sand beach.

The dry forest is full of iguanas, finches, mockingbirds, and endemic cacti. The beach itself is a gorgeous place for us to relax and enjoy the view.

In the afternoon, we’ll walk along the main street of Puerto Ayora exploring local picturesque artisan shops and discovering a chocolate artisanal workshop

About Angermeyer Waterfront Inn

The Angermeyer Waterfront Inn, accessible only by water, is a Premium – Class hotel with a private location across the Puerto Ayora bay. Once you arrive in Santa Cruz, our hospitality team will take you by boat to our private pier. The main reception and lounge area is a historical site, the famous Angermeyer Cave, which was hand-built by the early settlers to the Galapagos Islands. The main buildings, uniquely constructed out of lava rock and driftwood from the area, are an authentic mix of natural highlights and modern comforts. The newly renovated rooms were designed with comfort in mind, and several even feature hot tubs. Our signature waterside restaurant overlooks the Galapagos’ busiest bay and remains true to the Santa Cruz vibe.

Day 7: Santa Cruz

We’ll drive a short distance to the biggest agricultural area of Galapagos: the highlands of Santa Cruz.

Our first stop is a local shop where we will find all sorts of local crops and even make our own “corviche”, another delicacy of the Ecuadorian cuisine done with plantain, fish and peanut.

Then we will visit a family project where tourism and agriculture join together in a unique environment.

Participate in local farming and have a great lunch while learning the way of life of Galapagos highlanders.

After lunch, walk among Giant Tortoise in their natural habitat and see them take mud baths in the ponds and interact among each other

Day 8: Departure / Santa Cruz

Today you will have a transfer from the hotel in Puerto Ayora to the Itabaca channel • Then continue by  yourself to Baltra Island for your flight back to the mainland

Additional Trip Information

  • Please arrive in Quito no later than the evening prior to your trip (we recommend arriving a minimum of two nights to allow for potential flight delays and misconnection).  You will fly from Quito or Guayaquil to the Galapagos Islands, arriving between 11:30 am and 1:30 pm to San Cristobal airport, depending on your flight schedule. Upon arrival at San Cristobal airport, you will be greeted and escorted by a Neotropic Expeditions representative.
  • Your trip ends with a transfer from the hotel in Puerto Ayora to the Ithabaca channel. Then you'll continue unguided to Baltra Island for your flight to the mainland.
  • Hiking 1 to 7 miles per hike, easy to challenging terrain.
  • Snorkeling Equipment provided, no experience necessary
  • Kayaking Equipment and instruction provided, no experience necessary.
