A few more reasons why you've gotta go…

  • 1. Come check out the impressive masonry of the Incans. To build Machu Picchu they used a technique called "ashlar" where they cut stone and placed them on each other without any mortar. Not even a knife blade can fit between the stones.
  • 2. Macho Picchu, among other things, was an astronomical observatory. Its sacred Intihuatana accurately indicates the two equinoxes.
  • 3. Machu Picchu is believed to be untouched by the Spanish Conquistadors because it was hidden high on a ridge and not able to be seen from the valley below.
