  • After, opt to ride your bike back to the hotel to add some additional miles to the day
Day 3: San Jose / Manuel Antonio National Park
San Jose / Manuel Antonio National Park
Meals Included:  B,L,D
Overnight: Si Como No

After breakfast, we begin our three hour transfer to the central Pacific coast and the beautiful beaches of Manuel Antonio. Recently listed by Forbes Magazine as one of the “World’s Twelve Most Beautiful National Parks”, Manuel Antonio is a combination of lush forests, warm water, gorgeous beaches and abundant wildlife. En route to the national park we’ll stop near Jaco Beach to explore the vast tropical Pacific Ocean by outrigger canoe. Stable and easy to paddle, we’ll glide along cliffs where frigate birds frequently fly overhead, ending at Agujas Beach.

Once onshore, get ready to race in a Reebok-style biathlon! Beginning with an ocean swim, breath stroke your way through warm Pacific waters and upon finishing the swim section, run as fast as you can barefoot through soft sand to the finish line! After getting our heart rates up with some good competition, enjoy some snorkeling, depending on conditions Upon returning to Jaco Beach via canoe, we’ll continue our transfer (2 hours) to Manuel Antonio, arriving early afternoon in time for a poolside workout before dinner in town at a local restaurant

Day 4: Savegre River / Manuel Antonio National Park
Savegre River / Manuel Antonio National Park
Meals Included:  B,L,D
Overnight: Si Como No

This full day adventure includes a four wheel drive journey on deserted back roads to a very remote area where you’ll “put-in” on six person rafts on the Rio Savegre. This class II-III section of the river has modest rapids and on route we’ll stop to swim in peaceful pools and partake in a riverside yoga session with the sounds of running water and bird calls as your backdrop noise. Along the riverbanks, keep your eyes open for shore birds and the wildlife that call this area home. This evening your guide will take you out for a local dinner in the town of Quepos.

Day 5: Pez Vela Marina / Manuel Antonio National Park

Overnight: Si Como No

This morning, work out your upper body on a sea kayak adventure beginning near the developing Pez Vela (Sail Fish) Marina in Quepos and winding along the Manuel Antonio coastline. Indulge yourselves at a rare jewel of a beach - a hidden Manuel Antonio treasure at Biezans Bay for a refreshing swim, snacks and the best snorkeling spots in the area. After relaxing on a white sand beach, continue paddling towards Manuel Antonio National Park and wonder at the nearby nesting islands where exotic boobies and frigates call home year round.

This afternoon, alternate hiking, wildlife viewing, and beach running with your knowledgeable guide in Manuel Antonio National Park. This beautiful Park features gorgeous cream colored beaches, lush forest growing to the beach edge, abundant wildlife, warm pacific waters, winding forest trails and scenic ocean overlooks. Walking and running the park trails, you will likely encounter a variety of wildlife - squirrel monkeys, capuchin monkeys, sloths, black iguanas and agoutis are just a few animals you may see. We will take advantage of the beautiful Pacific views with an ocean side yoga session. This evening enjoy dinner in town with the group.

Los Campesinos
Meals Included:  B,L,D
Overnight: Si Como No

We begin today in the nearby town of Londres, where we’ll start our adventure race down an old farm road passing many creeks and waterfalls inside untouched rainforests. Utilizing maps and route finding skills, compete against your teammates to be the first one to make your way to Los Campesinos Reserve (don’t worry, we won’t let you get lost!). Here, we’ll eat lunch and take a refreshing swim in a natural pool at the base of a waterfall and walk a suspension bridge over a deep river gorge. After a delicious typical lunch at Campesinos, take on five different rappels: two waterfall drops, one straight rappel, one off a suspension bridge and one free fall in to a natural pool. After this amazing hike and rappel experience a short hike takes you to the Savegre River for the drive back to your hotel

Did you know that a sloth has a unique sort of fur that is a breeding ground for algae? (The algae helps it blend in with its environment!) Could you have guessed that an armadillo is a good swimmer and can hold its breath for up to six minutes? Were you aware that when a number of howler monkeys let loose their lungs in concert, often at dawn or dusk, the din can be heard up to three miles away? Discover Manuel Antonio National Park, a place first explored by Ponce de León, the Spanish explorer, whose futile search for the Fountain of Youth became his signature expedition. Come discover “The Crossroads of the Americas!”

Sun Tours guides are experienced facilitators and regional experts. They will take the time to explain the details of each activity, answer any questions and demonstrate the use of all equipment.
