Our guide meets you at Aberdeen Airport or your pre-trip hotel around lunchtime • Transfer to Balmoral Castle (the Queen’s official holiday residence in Scotland) for a visit and tour • Transfer to Inverness to check into your home for the next four nights

A 45 minute transfer takes us to Cairngorms National Park • Enjoy a land rover tour of a Highland Estate and then, after lunch, a bike ride on gravel forest trails and quiet country backroads, taking in the wonderful mountain scenery and fresh air of the ancient Caledonian Forest

Day 3: Loch Ness

We explore Loch Ness, enjoying a high speed RIB trip (look out for Nessie!) and tour of the mysterious ruins at the Urquhart Castle • After lunch, we explore the quiet roads on the south side of Loch Ness by bike, offering superb views across Scotland’s most famous loch

Day 4: "Black Isle"

Just 30 minutes north of Inverness is the ‘Black Isle’ • Though just a peninsula rather than an island, its quiet country roads are perfect for cycling • We start the day with a short boat trip, hopefully spotting the local pod of dolphins • Our bike ride then meanders between pretty villages from Avoch to Rosemarkie and then Cromarty

We transfer south to the charming town of Crieff in the Perthshire Highlands • On the way, we visit the wonderful Highland Folk Museum, to learn about life in days gone by • Further south we enjoy a short hike to a beautiful waterfall at The Hermitage (possibly spying salmon leaping) and also take a wee detour to visit the Highland Chocolatier and watch yummy chocolates being made! • Of course, you can take some away with you too!

Day 6: Free day at Creiff Hydro

A free day at Crieff Hydro, enjoying the many family-activities available at the hotel • Have a swim, try archery, play golf – or give one of the more unusual activities a try • Croquet, Segways and ‘super hero training’ are all available! • Enjoy a final night’s dinner with the group

Day 7: Transfer to Aberdeen, Depart

Transfer back to Aberdeen Airport (2 hours, 15 minutes) • On the way, we stop at the striking ruins of Dunnotter Castle and then finish on a fun gourmet note with a trip to the famous Aunty Betty’s Ice Cream Shop at Stonehaven

Arrival Flight/Day 1 Pickup

You will be met at 1:00 pm at the Aberdeen Airport (or a nearby hotel at 1:30 PM). Your guide will have an Austin Adventures signboard and will be waiting in the airport lobby to transfer you to Balmoral Castle and then on to Kingsmills Hotel (approx. 3 hours transfer).

Day 7 Departure/Return Flight

After breakfast, transfer back to Aberdeen Airport (2 hours, 15 minutes), on the way stopping at a few fun sites (including an ice cream shop!) Your guides will do their best to accommodate your flight schedule. Please plan on flying out of Aberdeen Airport at 4:00 PM or later.

  • Hiking: Easy to moderately strenuous hikes ranging from 5 to 10 miles.
  • Biking: Moderate fairly flat, gravel trails and quiet country roads, up to 25 miles.
