A few more reasons why you've gotta go…

  • 1. Visit the city of Troy where Menelaus the King of Sparta fought to save his wife Helen, considered the most beautiful woman in the world, from Paris of Troy in the Trojan War.
  • 2. See the original city wall and walk through the main gate of the 4th century town of Assos, now known as Behramkale.
  • 3. Though Greece is perhaps the most famous country for olive oil production, Turkey produces a considerable amount as well. In fact, "oil wrestling," where wrestlers douse themselves in olive oil and try to maintain hold on the other wrestler's hand-stitched leather kisbet (similar to leaderhosen,) is Turkey's national sport.
