Heather is an import to Canada, hailing originally from England. She fell in love with all that Canada’s vastness has to offer at the age of 18, and has since spent several years living and working in the Canadian Rockies.
As a child Heather remembers long and exciting moorland or mountain walks with her family, friends, and faithful dog. Weather was never a factor to consider when planning these adventures, and she has as many memories of laughing in a storm as smiling in the sun.
After her first journey to Canada (source of her current incorrigible travel bug) she attended university in Swansea, known as the wettest city in the UK, and somehow achieved a degree in Geography despite the temptations of the surfing, sailing, hiking, and climbing culture.
A passionate ski-tourer and advocate of cool weather, Heather spends some of the off-season guiding trips in the polar bear capital of the world, and as much of the rest of it as possible in the Himalayas or the Rockies, waiting for the snow to fall.
Heather can’t say enough about all the amazing, life-enriching experiences that can be gleaned from travel of all kinds. She’s lived, backpacked, skied, hiked, and explored in many countries over the last ten years. From New Zealand to Vietnam to India to the interior mountains of Mexico; everyday her ”favourite” destination changes! Sometimes she’ll even tell you the best place to travel and experience new things is right at home, wherever that may be.
The coast path in South Devon that I used to ride with my friends growing up. We'd charge towards the main tourist beach through tall oak forest, climb a big muddy hill (normally pushing the bikes!), then dodge bumps on a long trail catching glimpses of the pristine blue ocean below us through the trees. Halfway round the ride was a sheltered and little-known cove with clear water and a myriad of kelp and rock-pool life where we could swim and bask on the rocks before heading back home.
