Sylvie grew up on the coastal islands around Charleston, South Carolina. As a child she spent all her free time and the summers outdoors, climbing trees, kayaking, bicycling, rock climbing, and catching frogs and turtles. Family vacations were spent hiking and picnicking in the U.S. National Parks and rural areas in Europe. Sylvie studied in Northern France for a while and has traveled through much of Western Europe and Italy and the east coast of the U.S. These experiences fostered a deep appreciation for nature and exploring. An alum of the College of Charleston, Sylvie studied International Studies and Environmental Studies and also worked at a bicycle shop for several years leading group rides and organizing shop events. These experiences helped her discover her love for guiding folks in the outdoors and made the adventure travel field a natural choice for her.
When not guiding for Austin Adventures, Sylvie loves to spend time visiting family, caring for her garden, baking pies, doing nonprofit work and volunteering, reading at the beach, lounging in hammocks, adventuring in new places, and riding her bicycle daily. She also is an active cycling advocate and enjoys teaching people about bicycle safety and traffic laws.
