Sol y Luna sits within Peru’s Sacred Valley of the Incas, a vast, undulating landscape of lush agrarian terraces, pre-Colombian ruins, and Spanish colonial churches. Location alone would be enough to make this member of the Austin Collection shine, but Sol y Luna offers much more than a dream destination and fine array of outdoor pursuits.
The hotel, in all its culturally steeped finery, is the means to a greater end.
Built in 2000, it helps fund the Sol y Luna Intercultural School that serves over 185 local children in the Sacred Valley who previously walked hours each day to get to school or did not go at all. It was founded and is still run by French careerwoman Petit Miribel and her Swiss partner Franz Schilter, who each left behind lucrative careers to better the lives of those so often overlooked.
You are sure to enjoy one of 43 private, meticulously decorated casitas that all face the Andes and boast a vibrant garden teeming with local flora. And the tandem paragliding, mountain biking, trekking, kayaking, horseback riding, and quad-bike tours are also sure to delight. But more than anything, you will rest comfortably assured that your stay sustains the lives and education of children in need.
