Dan’s Saturday Muse December 16th, 2020

Dear Fellow Adventurer,

Surprised to see a Muse in your inbox mid-week? No, we’re not changing our email schedules or planning on ramping up Muse Communique. I just wanted to wrap up 2020 on a positive note and let you enjoy the holidays with your friends and family with no intrusions from your Austin Adventures peeps over the holiday weekends. Our team has been working ridiculously hard since this pandemic reared its ugly head last March, so it’s time to let them have a break as well.

I have to assume you are like us: You could not be more excited about the thought of 2020 in the rearview mirror. I have said it a dozen times this year:

“Behind every adversity is an

equal or greater advantage.”

I certainly believe this has been the case throughout 2020. These last few months I could not be prouder of our team rising to the occasion. I am also proud, if not humbled, by how this has brought us even closer to our loyal guests. We have always considered you family, but if anything we have developed a stronger bond. The outpouring of support and the calls to just “check in” were so appreciated.

On top of your nice words, we have had many 2021 bookings from you already. They are off the charts! We are seeing families, friends, couples, solo adventurers all wanting to get something on the calendar to travel in 2021. Our domestic adventures carried (as best they could) through 2020 and it is clear they will sell out and carry the torch into the future. But honestly we are thrilled to see international travel is on the rise (starting in quarter two). A good example might be our Founder’s trip to Kenya scheduled for August which is now halfway to fully booked. These optimistic outlooks have all added up to us feeling really good about where we are in the business (maybe not how we got here, but definitely where we are). Without all the love and support we received from you all, I don’t think we would have made it.

We also have had a great response to our annual Alumni Appreciation Month! Lots of awesome reasons to celebrate our loyal alumni all year long, but December is always the month we set aside to really make it all about you. Check out this year’s special offerings and discounts. If you procrastinated on that holiday gift for the family and need some last-minute help, I got your back. Shoot me an email at [email protected] or call my cell at 1-406-671-6067 and we’ll have some ideas.

Travel industry aside, the last few weeks have brought a mixed bag of news! On one hand vaccines are being shipped and put into play around the world. But they are coming at a time when virus numbers are staggering! I sincerely hope you and your friends, family, and co-workers have all been spared. If not, I am very sorry and my heart goes out to you. This has been right up there as the toughest year of my personal life and I sympathize with you.

I’ll leave you with a request to be of light heart this holiday season despite the extreme ups and downs we’ve all experienced this year. As you Zoom call with your friends and families (who would have ever thought “Zoom” holiday gatherings would be a thing?), do your best to keep up the optimism. Think and talk about that last great adventure, remembering the best part of travel is indeed the memories. Indulge in forward thinking, about life after COVID… Where is your first trip going to take you? (we can talk about going back to the gym next Muse)

Again, a heartfelt THANK YOU. We look forward to hearing more from you and just remember we’re in it together.

Namaste, my friends namaste!
