Dan’s Saturday Muse January 30th, 2021

Good morning Adventure Family, it’s time for yet another Muse!

As always I’m so glad you choose to read these Muses. They have been one of my favorite tools to virtually sit down with you, sip a cup of coffee together, and just share what we are seeing and feeling in regards to adventure travel. If at any point you have heard enough, simply hit reply to let me know and I can see that you are suppressed from future Muses. You won’t hurt my feelings (Well, maybe a little).

It still never ceases to amaze me when I think back over how much has changed in our world in just a year. Early last summer when we started executing trips, life was really feeling like the carnival game “Whack-a-Mole”. I ended up using that term too often. Hotels were closing or switching up their guidelines, National Parks were changing rules, airlines were attempting to navigate the craziness, etc. But we evolved and adapted and pulled off an amazing series of adventures without any “incidents” (albeit a lighter load).

Fast forward to today, after seven straight weeks of record bookings, we really felt like the worst was behind us. Cue to the most recent round of “Whack-a-Mole”. Even the most intrepid travelers, including myself, were a bit rattled by all the latest news and drama: New strains of the virus, hold ups in vaccine distribution, new rules and regulations for travel, and more. There’s so much to constantly process, but what I do believe is progress is being pieced together. Vaccines are getting into the arms of those that are highest risk and the rest of us will have our chance. We understand the virus better now and rules and regulations are being followed to make a difference. My personal favorite is talk and lobbying for an international “vaccine passport”. Don’t get me wrong, we are not through the storm and we have some tough days ahead. I get it! We get it! But in my humble opinion we are rounding the corner and will be able to get out and about, safely exploring our wonderful world once again. Check out our flexible booking policies if you want to learn more about what we are doing to ease back into the world of travel.

As an aside, I never thought I would be sharing poetry with the masses. That said, I hope you had a chance to see or listen to our country’s National Youth Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman (youngest ever and gives me a bit of faith in this next generation). I appreciated her poem so much I posted it here for you. Honestly the video is exceptional, simply Google it and enjoy! Some may have seen her poem as a political statement, but I saw it as being more about where we are as a nation in general. The last few lines of her work gives me chills and confidence that all our efforts and positive energy will eventually pay off:

When day comes we step out of the shade,

aflame and unafraid

The new dawn blooms as we free it

For there is always light,

if only we’re brave enough to see it

If only we’re brave enough to be it”

                                                                       –Amanda Gorman

When that day comes and you are ready to step out of the shade, we are here for you. We will always be here for you. A reminder to EVERYONE, don’t hesitate to hit reply and share your thoughts, your visions, what inspires you, and any insights or suggestions on how we can be better at what we do. We thrive off of feedback, whether positive or negative (the negative gives us something to work on)!

P.S. If you are a Travel Professional, we are getting closer to kicking off Travel Professional Appreciation Month in February, just a few days away. We will be hosting a kick-off webinar next Tuesday and offering some perks special incentives just for you! Go ahead and register for the webinar here, it’s a quick simple form.

Namaste my friends, namaste,
