Good morning adventure enthusiasts!
I have to be honest, these Saturday Musings are getting tough. They started as a way of communicating and staying connected to you all. Every few weeks I share a bit of the good, the bad, and the ugly. My original intent was they would be short-lived and we would eventually get back on track and resume more conventional marketing and communication emails.
Well as I now sit down to share insights with you all I am struggling with “new” material. We are now at least 16 weeks into what was once anticipated to be a rough few weeks if not a month or so. I had no idea I would be sticking with it for months. If one thing is clear now, it’s that this virus and the conditions it dictates are not going away today.
That said, we continue to adjust and adapt. We are here to stay and we are in it for the long haul. We have now managed to host a few hundred hardy souls on limited adventures from Yellowstone to Alaska. We have hosted old friends and made lots of new ones. At the risk of being redundant, the one thing I can say with a big smile is travelers have been nothing shy of amazing and just “gone with the flow”. Traveling in the COVID world is not for everyone, but those that have ventured out have been handsomely rewarded with uncompromised adventures.
We have a handful or two of trips yet to run this summer season and we are getting into a bit of a rhythm. Our guides are doing yeoman’s work keeping our guests safe and seeing they do indeed enjoy the adventures they bargained for. I am so proud of them all.
In the weeks to come you are going to start seeing a bit of a shift to 2021 adventures. We remain confident the experts are out there working 24/7 to find a cure and vaccines. (Lots of positive news on this front this week.) We are excited and looking forward to getting back to some level of normal and seeing all of you on adventures across the globe. We are seeing glimmers of hope as countries start opening up around the world. That said, domestic travel is going to remain a safe bet for the foreseeable future.
One thing you can count on, we are taking all the key learnings from this year and looking to continue to improve what we do far into the future. Many of the protocols worked out this year will stay on for years to come. A good example might be on our Alaska Adventure, in years past we always joined a big cruise ship for a visit to the glaciers of Resurrection Bay. This year we elected to secure a private boat just for our guests. What a great experience and one we plan to keep! Many more where that came from and we will share in the coming months.
At the risk of sounding self-serving, I have to share a keen observation. It has never been more clear of the value of a Tour Operator and or using a Professional Travel Advisor as it has been this year. The sheer volume of behind the scenes effort has been truly amazing. We have worked round the clock to see our travelers had the best vacation possible. If the reviews coming in are any indication, we are indeed clearly hitting the mark.
Thank you for all your support, for reaching out and checking in (I do love hearing from you all, it feeds my soul). Remember we are here for you, now and for many many years to come. If you need anything, please reach out. Somos Familia!
I am going to close here with just wishing you and yours well. Stay strong and don’t ever give up on that spirit of adventure that drives us all. Once we all get back out exploring we will appreciate it all that much more!
Take care and hope to see you soon.

PS, don’t forget to vote! As shared we are in the running for USA Today’s #1 Tour Operator on the planet. Last year we finished a flattering 3rd overall and #1 in USA. We need your vote to beat out the big guys for the coveted #1 spot. If you would be so kind (assuming we have earned the favor) to take a minute each day for the next 3 weeks to give us a quick vote, it would mean the world to us all. Vote Here
