Dan’s Saturday Muse November 21st, 2020

Dan&#;sSaturdayMuseDecemberth,

Greetings from Montana,

Sorry I missed last week’s Muse (I can’t believe how many noted and reached out, I humbly thank you!). Hopefully you saw at least part of the reason we are so busy and it slipped by? Last week we closed on the acquisition of Wildland Adventures, a leading company in the international tour and safari industry! This is a pretty big deal for us as we remain diligent in expanding our international portfolio, anticipating the market’s eventual total recovery. Ironically this acquisition is also allowing us the opportunity to put more focus on our domestic offerings as President Kasey Austin is now 100% dedicated to domestic operations. Our new Vice President of International Operations, Curtis Fox, will continue to oversee the Wildland Adventures acquisition while supporting our growing international portfolio. You can read up on more of the what, how, and why here.

If you are a Wildland guest receiving this Muse for the first time, welcome to the Austin family! I send these musings out bi-weekly as a personal note from me, Dan Austin, CEO and founder of Austin Adventures. It’s our goal to personally connect with each and every one of you. As an FYI we pride ourselves on being available 24/7 so if you simply hit reply, your note will come directly to me — and yes, I will reply! We look forward to meeting and traveling with you all.

As we head into Thanksgiving week, I just want to once again share a heartfelt Austin thanks to you and yours. For over 35 years you have supported us as we navigate this crazy adventure travel world. We have definitely had our ups and downs, but haven’t we all? Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. I love getting together with family and friends while we celebrate and overindulge in the culinary treats of the season. Hearing from everyone just what they are thankful for is special. This year of course is going to be a bit different. We are all having to make sacrifices and scale back on our social gatherings. I guess I am okay with this, as COVID has hit close to home this last week and we all just need to do whatever is asked of us to get this beast under control. That said, we are super excited by this week’s news announcing several viable and successful vaccine trials! Yahoo!

Those that truly know me know that I am big on living with an attitude of gratitude 24/7, it’s my jam! Next up is my strong belief in the power of optimismGratitude and optimism is the one-two punch that keeps me going (and smiling). I have shared many times how stoked we are to have a partnership with the lifestyle brand Life is Good. These cats literally wrote the book on gratitude and optimism (if you hit me up I’ll see if I can get you a copy). I wanted to share a quick video my good friend and founder of Life is GoodⓇ recently shared with me on travel and optimism. It’s a three minute feel-good message that’s worth the watch and reminder. Check out video here. Feel free to share if you know someone that could use a bit of optimism!

Nothing means more to us then the kudos and accolades we get from our travelers, followed closely by acknowledgement from the media and peers. This week we were thrilled to get a shout out from a travel industry icon David Cogswell. I have known David for decades and really appreciate his kind words. It’s a good read, you can see it here.

That’s enough for now. Thanks again for letting me into your world and allowing me to share this Muse. We are living through one of the craziest (if not scariest) times of our lives, but we will get through it. We will make it through together with a healthy dose of gratitude and optimism!

Namaste my friends,

Dan Austin
