Hi, I’m Lauren! I grew up in Tampa, Florida. My family trips were out of the Florida heat and into the mountains of North Carolina where my Grandad grew up. It was a trip I looked forward to all year, we would go white water rafting and zip-lining. Being from Florida, mountains have always been synonymous with adventure in my mind. I went to college at the University of South Florida. My goal was to get in and out as fast as possible until I took a trip to the study abroad office. USF’s new goal was to have a large variety of study abroad options and scholarships. So, I went on three. Since graduating, I have been working guiding jobs to explore new places and to share that experience with others.
What’s your favorite vacation destination?
My favorite vacation destination is anywhere I haven’t been yet! Also, always a fan of the North Carolina Smokies.
What’s your favorite hike?
My favorite hike is in Mammoth Lakes, CA. I’m actually not even sure if it has a name! It is a dirt trail off of the town loop walking path, and it drops you into the wilderness so fast that you wouldn’t even believe it’s next to a town.
What’s your favorite bike ride?
The Tsali biking trails in Western North Carolina
“The Decoy Bride” because David Tennant.
My favorite book is Ben Loory’s “Stories For Nighttime and Some For the Day”, highly recommend to anyone with a big imagination!
Allstar by Smashmouth. (But actually anything by Lord Huron)
When did you first catch the travel bug?
I caught the travel bug during my senior year of high school. I would sit at the computer watching rotating images of far-away places and dream of a future where I got to explore all of them.
What are your hobbies?
My hobbies are a never-ending list, constantly evolving thanks to the internet (but really tiktok). I love white water rafting. Others off the never-ending list include videography, yoga, sometimes running, writing, and plants.
