Trip Guide

Michael Engelmann

Michael was born and raised in Connecticut, where he knocked out every foilage-filled hike he could between soccer practices and school work. While getting his degree in Political Science from the University of Connecticut, he worked three summers in Yellowstone and fell in love with traveling, camping, and chasing summits.

After graduating, he has worked as a reporter in South Africa, a teacher in Asia, and backpacked through New Zealand and South America. While abroad he is always in search of challenging hikes and the best (or strangest) local restaurants in whatever big city or small town he happens to be in.

When he isn’t collecting passport stamps, he is in or near a National Park. He’s had the opportunity to call the Tetons, Sierras, Rockies, and Kenai Penninsula home at some point. If not in the woods or on a trail, Michael is working through his ever-growing reading list, trying to bake the perfect pie, or beating his friends at a board, card, or ball game.
