Sam grew up in a northern suburb of Chicago called Deerfield. Starting at an early age he took backcountry camping trips all over the US and then began leading similar trips when he started college. He has visited 25 National Parks (so far…only 35 to go!) and has led trips through more than 10 of them. He is also a Wilderness First Responder.
Sam graduated from the University of Illinois in 2018 with a degree in Communication. During the off-season, he coaches high school track and cross country and works for his family’s real estate business. He spends his free time reading, playing the guitar and harmonica and running.
