Growing up in the suburbs of St. Louis, Missouri, Stephanie and her family spent a lot of time camping, tubing, swimming, and jumping off cliffs/bridges on the beautiful Missouri rivers. She had 120 acres of the country to ride four-wheelers, explore the land and go cow tipping. Have you ever gone cow-tipping? They would also travel west near the mountains to visit family. Her love and adventure for the great outdoors and mountains only grew from there.
After getting her graduate degree in computer education, spending many years in the educational setting, and raising her son as a single mom, a blessing came by way of getting laid off – yep! Yay. This is when she was able to go into her true passion of adventure and travel. In the off-season, Stephanie travels as much as possible. She has been to 44 states and 22 countries (and counting). If not traveling, you will probably find her on the mountain skiing with her son or kayaking/rafting a river.
What’s your favorite vacation destination?
That’s a tough one, I would have to say International (sorry can’t narrow it down to one). Traveling internationally, learning about other cultures, people and places opens one’s eyes and educates. Sadly, all the people who stay in their little bubble don’t see this spectacular world we live in.
What’s your favorite hike?
Cathedral Rock in Sedona, AZ. It’s not long, but I like that it is not just a hike. One has to climb up, over, and around rocks and boulders, making it more challenging. Then you get the reward at the top with a spectacular view overlooking the land.
What’s your favorite bike ride?
Pedaling through the rice fields and countryside with palms and lush green grasslands surrounding Yogyakarta Indonesia. We also saw locals making bricks, tofu, and tempe.
127 Hours 🤔?
I’m not much of a book reader, but I have read each Harry Potter book 3 times.
When did you first catch the travel bug?
I would have to say that I caught the travel bug when my mom and I took our first international trip and my dream trip, to Australia and New Zealand. Seeing and learning about other cultures was incredible and I haven’t stopped traveling since.
What are your hobbies?
My favorite hobbies are kayaking/canoeing/rafting, traveling and skiing would probably be my favorites.
