Experience the untamed beauty of Grand Teton and Yellowstone on our Wyoming adventure vacation.
Grand Teton and Yellowstone’s majesty springs to life on our adventure-filled Wyoming vacations. Each vacation celebrates one of North America’s most recognized and revered mountain ranges—the highest of the snow-capped, snaggle-toothed Tetons towers 13,770 feet into the clouds. Twelve breathtaking summits in all, the Tetons are home to pristine glacier-carved valleys, spruce and fir forests, alpine meadows, and rushing creeks.
Yellowstone is the world’s first national park. Its beautiful mountains create spectacular valleys that are peppered with geysers, fumaroles, steam vents, and mud pots. Rushing rivers feed crystalline lakes, and lush forests make a comfortable home for grizzly bears, moose, elk, bison, wolves, deer, coyotes, and eagles.
Spend your Wyoming vacation hiking Yellowstone’s backcountry trails and exploring the granite spires of the Tetons. Bike winding country roads past historic ranches and wildflower-studded meadows. Raft the rowdy Snake River through a spectacular granite canyon. Witness, up close, the region’s rich diversity of wildlife. At night, cheer on the wranglers at the Jackson Rodeo, dig into a steak dinner, kick back with a cold beverage, and count the stars polka-dotting the open night sky.
When Is the Best Time to Visit Wyoming?
We recommend traveling in Wyoming literally at any time of year! After all, two of our world’s most beautiful national parks, Yellowstone and Grand Teton, beg to be explored year-round. Whenever you decide to travel, and whichever Wyoming vacation you choose, it's an experience you won't soon forget.
Planning for a Wyoming Vacation
Don’t worry, you won’t need formal wear for your Wyoming vacation, which means you’ll have plenty of room for the layers you’ll want on hand for whatever weather rolls in. As the saying goes, “If you don’t like the weather in Wyoming, wait five minutes,” because conditions in Yellowstone and the Tetons can change quickly. Come prepared for warm, cold, and everything in between, no matter the season. Read on for a few tips to get ready for your adventure.
Expect Four Seasons in a Day
Wyoming weather can change fast. Even in summer, warm days can turn into cool evenings, and quick showers are always possible. Pack with flexibility in mind so you’re comfortable from trail time to lodge time.
Layer Up
Layers are the secret to staying comfortable in Wyoming. Start with lightweight, moisture-wicking basics, then add warmer (but breathable) layers as temperatures shift. A light hat and gloves are surprisingly handy any time of year.
Pack Your Raincoat, Keep It Handy
Afternoon thunderstorms can roll in quickly, especially in summer. Bring a quality rain jacket (skip the poncho) and keep it within easy reach in your daypack. Staying dry makes every hike and viewpoint more fun.
Don’t Forget Your Camera
From geysers and wide-open valleys to roaming wildlife and mountain views, Wyoming is packed with photo moments. Bring your favorite camera or phone, plus an extra battery if you have one. Leave drones at home since they aren’t allowed in the national parks.
Travel Tips for your Wyoming Adventure Vacation
High Elevation, Easy Does It
Yellowstone and Grand Teton sit at higher elevations (often between 6,500 and 8,000 feet), and guests arriving from sea level can feel it during the first couple of days. The best approach is simple: hydrate early and often, go easy on alcohol, and pace yourself at the start of the trip. A little extra rest and steady effort go a long way, and most travelers feel great once they’ve acclimated.
Wildlife Watching, the Responsible Way
Wildlife sightings are a highlight in Wyoming, and they’re best enjoyed with plenty of space. With Austin Adventures, your guides bring deep local knowledge and a safety-first approach, choosing the best viewing locations and helping you understand animal behavior along the way. Always follow your guide’s direction, never approach or feed animals, and keep a respectful distance, especially around bison, moose, and bears. Binoculars or a zoom lens make it easy to take in the details while letting the wild stay wild.
Big Parks, Big Distances
Yellowstone and Grand Teton are vast, and getting from one iconic spot to the next can take more time than many travelers expect. Visiting on your own often means juggling park logistics, crowd timing, and route planning, plus trying to decide what’s truly worth your limited time. With Austin Adventures, our expert guides handle the details and use decades of local know-how to get you to the must-sees (and a few under-the-radar favorites), all on a thoughtfully paced itinerary that lets you experience more with less effort.

Wyoming Adventure Vacation FAQs
Accommodation
We've spent years finding places to stay that are quaint, perfectly-located, and comfortable when we take you to the most amazing parts of North America. We offer a wide variety of accommodations on our trips ranging from locally run inns and first-class hotels to resorts, dude ranches and historic national park cabins. Accommodations are selected for their location, unique charm and history, and offer a true feel for the region. We strongly believe in the value of a good night's sleep and our accommodation reflects this. We also like to have somewhere comfortable to relax after the day's activities.
Transport
We're really focused on ensuring that we spend as little time as possible sitting in vehicles, and that we optimize your vacation for adventuring in the great outdoors. Our average driving time is just over two hours a day, and we make plenty of stops for bathroom breaks and sightseeing along the way. We use modern, comfortable 15-passenger vans for all of our transfers and a second van is added to most departures to provide more flexibility and more room to spread out while seeing the sights! Make no mistake - our trips are not typical bus tour vacation packages! Picture more of a road trip with family complete with good music, tasty snacks, and plenty of guide-supplied fun facts along the way to keep you entertained!
Meals
Just about all your meals are included when you travel with Austin Adventures in North America. We provide a wide variety of cuisine - breakfasts are typically eaten at your hotel on your own time in the morning before meeting up with the group. Lunches feature everything from elaborate picnics to roadside cafes to sandwiches trailside. Dinners are usually eaten at our hotel's dining room or a local restaurant with plenty of options to choose from. We easily cater to vegetarians, picky kids, and people with particular dietary needs. All our guides have food safety certificates and are well-practiced in the art of food prep and serving while on-the-move. You'll find the meals are a real highlight of your trip!
Guides
Our trips are all led by experienced guides who are very proud to work with us and often lead our trips for many years, for which we are very lucky and very grateful as it means we're able to consistently offer a fantastic level of service. Our guests are often drawn to North America by the beautiful scenic landscapes, promise of wilderness and clean air - and there's no doubt you'll find all that, though what you may not be expecting is to forge real, genuine friendships with your fellow tripmates, including our wonderful guides. They're hands-down the BEST guides you'll ever come across.
